MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Carry out quality credit assessment, present bankable solutions and manage the credit risk of a portfolio of clients in the Agri-business value chain.
To perform quality credit assessment for the allocated portfolio i.e. corporate applications and mitigate any potential risk on behalf of the company and recommend bankable solutions in accordance with the approved Credit Policy and the delegated level of power.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Carry out full credit assessments within allocated portfolio.
Ensure that all relevant information and documentation has been received from the operations as per the agreed checklist.
Follow up with the branches to ensure that all supporting documentation is complete.
Ensure that loan applications conform to the set standards, highlight anomalies and suggest corrective measures.
Align products to the purpose of the loan and the Credit Policy.
Spread financial statements to identify the viability and performance of the business and assess business and financial risk by analysing financial statements of applicants.
Research and assess the industry in which the loan is associated as appropriate to assess the potential risk of granting the loan.
Interpret financial statements and economic / political / industry/commodity data.
Assess the application to ensure viability and sustainability of the business in terms of:
Financial statements and projections
- Business Plans
- Bank Form
Analyse all the presented information and complete a sensitivity analysis in order to mitigate risks associated with the client portfolio.
Score the credit application for pricing purposes.
Prepare proposal for recommendation (approve/decline) and consideration by the relevant Credit Committee in accordance to Bank’s Credit policy and agreed processes and procedures.
Escalate any risk pertaining to credit applications to management.
Build relationships with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure understanding of requirements and addressing any credit related issues.
Respond to queries received from the Branch operations and the relevant Credit Committee.
Promote a culture of credit risk management at branch level.
Provide guidance and training to operations on credit related matters.
May be required to represent Credit on projects as assigned by management.
Build relationships with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure understanding of requirements and addressing any credit related issues.
Respond to queries received from the Branch operations and the relevant Credit Committee.
Promote a culture of credit risk management at branch level.
Provide guidance and training to operations on credit related matters.
May be required to represent Credit on projects as assigned by management.
Ensure that documentation is archived in accordance to the Bank’s policy for record and audit purposes
Attend to audit findings as and when required within area of responsibility
Take remedial action on all audit findings and ensure that issues are resolved or addressed
Provide input to policies and procedures and updates and identify opportunities to improve as and when required
Provide inputs on lending norms and credit criteria to be applied on new products
Participate in the review of Credit Policies and procedures.

PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

An appropriate 3 year Tertiary Qualification (Commerce); or
A 3 year Credit Management Diploma; or
A 3 year BSC Agric (Agricultural Economics) Degree is
advantageous.
3 years relevant credit experience
Thorough knowledge of the
- NCA, CPA, FICA and related credit regulatory requirements
- The primary, secondary agriculture sector finance.
- Appraisal of credit proposals and deal structure for: assets finance, working capital, back ward and forward integration finance

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Thorough knowledge of the NCA, CPA, FICA and related credit regulatory requirements.
Travelling will be required within South Africa
Sound knowledge of the business environment
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of finance and the components involved in finance
Knowledge and understanding of the company policies and procedures applicable to the specific work environment to ensure that work outcomes are compliant to the policies and procedures
