QUALIFICATIONS:

•BSC Computer Science or a 3 year technical (ICT) related Degree/Diploma

•ITIL ver3

•Red Hat certified

•Suse Certified

•Symantec Netbackup certified


EXPERIENCE:

•A minimum of 5 years relevant experience required, including experience in clustering


CORE DESCRIPTION:

•Responsible for the installation, maintenance and tuning of databases and operating systems, using a variety of functionalities and a range of associated products in order to provide software support on an advanced level

•Provide input to capacity planning, disaster recovery planning

•Responsible for defining configuration standards, administration procedures and the problem solving process

•Manage a team


•Operating Systems (Linux Red Hat/Suse) hardware and software functions

•OS cluster support and health checks

•SW and hardware maintenance and support

•Firmware upgrades

•Control of RDP Access

•User access on OS level for access to folders on drives (interfaces). Adherence to ITIL.

•VMware support

•VM configuration against best practices

•Backups & Restores (Symantec Netbackup)


FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:
