Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years in: - SQL server administration and development - MS SQL Server and Database Environment - SQL Server 2008/2012 (2013 advantageous)
- MCSA: SQL Server and Windows / MSCE Qualified
- Relevant Microsoft certification
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or IT related discipline, with specialization in SQL database administration and some SQL development background
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies and VMWare SQL environments
- Working knowledge of latest Windows Operating systems
- Previous experience in the industry would be advantageous
- Good command of local language/ languages (Fluent in local language/s)
- Basic influencing & persuasion skills
- Basic networking skills with the ability to build a network of business contacts
- Good presentation skills
- Knowledge of documented systems administration functions
- Knowledge of network technology
- Knowledge of IT standards
- Basic knowledge of selection criteria for new technology
- Good knowledge of business functions within a company
- Creative thinker with the ability to identify alternative solutions to technical problems
- Good judgement & reasoning skills with the ability to evaluate diverse business requirements to determine priorities/actions
- Good analytical skills
- Good project management skills, planning & organizing skills
- Basic knowledge of key financial principles and processes e.g. ROI, capital approval, budget processes etc.
- Work closely with Software Development, Infrastructure, Business Intelligence and Projects Teams to ensure future demand is understood and planned for Supports business continuity and critical information security by providing effective systems/network administrative services and solutions. Performs more complex functions under an appropriate level of guidance
- All actions need to comply with corporate standards and SOX legislation requires the jobholder to participate in communication to functional management and user groups
- Provide production support for all databases (Break/fix incident support, root cause analysis and resolution)
- Completes all service requests in submitted / priority order in a timely manner
- Ensures a continuous focus on a maintenance plan for all databases (Maintain release and patch levels, security management, state and capacity alerting and reporting)
- Supports project demands when required, and as defined by the project management team
- Acts as knowledge leader in a field of specialization
- Participates in the effective and consistent install of new servers/pcs, under guidance using software tools to build and replicate ‘ideal’ models. Includes loading mainstream software, adapting to take account of defined requirements of business users
