Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Carry out inspections as per regulations 2.17.1 of the MHSA and make recommendations on routine inspections concerning health and safety
• Reviewing all incident reports, compiling and analysing monthly statistics

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Safety Management (NADSAM) or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety
• COMSOC 1 & 2
• 5 years’ experience in a safety and health environment in Mining
• Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines will be an added advantage
• Valid Code EB driver’s license essential
• Registered as Safety Professional by IOSM

Other Skills/Competencies:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Practical knowledge and experience of daily safety and health management system preferable underground and /or in the metallurgy plant or as Technical supervisor in a mining environment
• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) and other related legislation applicable to a mining environment
• Knowledge and experience in incident/accident investigation
• Knowledge risk assessments methodology system
• Competency in MS Office suite
• Ability to function as team member
• Strong interpersonal communications, tact, good judgment, analytical skills required
