Education Qualifications & Experience:
* B. Eng or B. Tech Mechanical Engineering degree.
* Pr. Technologist or Pr. Eng. will be an advantage
* Experience in the piping design environment is essential and Practical site experience of construction sites.
* Specific knowledge of Standards and Specifications that apply. Good Technical Writing skills.
* Knowledge of Caesar II pipe stress analysis software or similar programs.Working knowledge of Drawing packages such as AUTOCAD and Microstation.
* PC skills in MS Office and Communication Skills. Capable of working in a multidiscipline team
Responsibilities:
* Reviewing of process piping systems in the Petrochemical and Refinery industry for the relevant code compliance related to stress and mechanical integrity.
* Pressure design of piping and piping components according to the relevant design codes and standards.
* Performing pipe stress calculations and analysis using Caesar II for piping systems around equipment such as heat ex-changers, air coolers, rotating equipment (pumps, compressors and turbines), pressure vessels, drums and columns. Performing calculations based on analysis results.
* Ability to perform theoretical calculations to validate analysis results.
* Working knowledge of AMSE, API, SANS and other related codes and specifications.
* Detail design, layout and supporting of piping systems for new and existing plants.
* Ability to work on electronic CAD design (Autocadd / Microstation) is a benefit for this work.
* Reviewing of piping loads acting on nozzles of connecting equipment according to API 610, WRC 107/297.
* Flange leakage calculations and reviewing of pipe support loads.
* Preparation of spring, Expansion joint, nozzle, civil support load data sheets.
* Adherence to client specifications requirements and Pipe Stress Analysis Report writing
* Reviewing of isometric drawings for the applicable code and client specification compliance.
* Providing technical assistance to piping designers as well as internal and external clients.
* Categorization of pressure piping according SANS 347 and Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER).
