Our client, a leading Gold and Platinum Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Commodity Superintendent at their Supply Chain Unit at their offices in Libanon near Westonaria.

The appointee should:
BComm Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced diploma in Supply Chain, or Procurement or equivalent.
Have a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in supply chain or procurement environment
Be proficient in an ERP system
Have a minimum of 5 years Sourcing and Procurement experience
Demonstrate management, financial and negotiating competencies
Have good knowledge of mining industry equipment will be an advantage
Be an assertive self-starter who is able to plan, administer and organise and pay attention to detail
Exhibit excellent English oral and written communication skills
Be computer literate particularly in Microsoft Office Excel and possess excellent interpersonal abilities
Be prepared to work extended hours on an ad hoc basis and successfully undergo security screening
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at a relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Key responsibilities include:
Provide commercial and technical guidance to a cross-functional multi-disciplinary commodity team, that is responsible for developing commodity strategies and other initiatives, aimed at reducing the Total Cost of ownership of engineering commodities, maintenance and services purchased by Sibanye-Stillwater
Develop and execute commodity strategies of high value, high risk commodity contracts and maintenance contracts, by making recommendations within respective commodity teams to receive strategic direction, including preparing and issuing of enquiries/tenders, analysing responses and making recommendations for adjudication, leading commercial negotiations, initiating contracts and ongoing vendor performance management
Lead supplier qualification and measurement for commodities and manage relationships with suppliers
Manage vendor relationships with key operational customers and ensure delivery in accordance with SLA’s
Track and report commodity/maintenance performance metrics. Develop negotiation strategies and conduct negotiations. Remain current on supply market trends, supplier economics and best practice sourcing
Interact across all organisational levels of internal operations as well as the supply chain
Apply industry knowledge to assigned product categories to support sourcing strategy and negotiations
Work with the legal department and/or contract management team in developing standard contracts, and to ensure the proper use of contract type to properly manage the Group’s legal and commercial risks. Co-ordinate any legal disputes with suppliers
