Our client requires the services of a suitably qualified, matured and experienced candidate to be appointed as a supervisor-welding in Kendal, Mpumalanga
PURPOSE
To monitor welder performance and weld quality consistent with relevant procedures, specifications, inspections and client requirements to complete project requirements
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Control and coordinate all allocated site welding activities
Deploy manpower according to the scope of work and production plan
Maintain welder qualification records in accordance with relevant standard practice and ensure that all welders employed are coded for the procedure involved and in possession of current welder qualification certificates
Advise on acceptable levels of set-up and weld preparation from boilermakers/pipe fitters prior to welding
Monitor the timely repair of all weld failures
Monitor individual welders' repair rates to ensure WRR remains below 2%
Contribute to welder training by providing the necessary guidance on technique, equipment and best practices for welding applications
Compile and maintain all welding NDT and Heat Treatment documentation according to the Standard Practice System
Monitor and advise on general safety of welders including the awareness of health risks
Monitor welding consumable storage and control system in accordance with standard practices
Ensure the control of all welders' equipment and protective gear
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 with English, Maths/Science/Technical Drawings and/or
Minimum of 5 years welding experience in a boiler of which 2 years should be in a supervisory capacity and/or
Completed recognized Welding trade test
IIW International Welding Specialist (IWS) or IIW Welding Practitioner (IWP)
Annual company screening to obtain company stamp number
Certification in HIRA, RCAT, Working at heights and in confined spaces.
Construction Safety Training(IRCON) Incl. Job Observation
Management – OHS Act Legal / Liability Incl. Construction regulations
Basic knowledge and understanding of Labour Law and OHS Act regulations
Good knowledge of fabrication and welding codes and ISO 3834
Be able to read and understand as built and PID drawings, Quality Inspection Plan (QIP)/Quality Control Plan (QCP)
Compile and review data books
Must understand how to read NDT reports and how to follow up on NDT results
