Main purpose of the jobReporting to the Unit Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to assist with planning and execution of all functions within a set budget and in accordance to company policies and procedures. Education and experience required: Matric National Diploma in Hospitality/Diploma in food service managementMinimum of 1 year catering supervision experience Candidate must be of Muslim ReligionExperience of stores control ordering and receiving Experience at catering at a private Hospital (Halaal an advantage)Special diets and healthcare experience a must Work smart knowledge an advantageKnowledge Skills and Competencies required:Understanding of halaal food processExcellent communication skills Well groomed and well presented Willing to work night shifts Creativity and InnovationStrong sense of service and customer orientationExcellent organisation and planning skillsFinancial acumen Good people management skills Independent thinkingCreativity and innovationMust be a good team player with the ability to motivate staffGood knowledge of the catering environment Good knowledge of Health and Safety policies and processes relevant to the catering industry Computer literate (MS Office) Key areas of responsibilities:To assist in the production of meals, snacks and functions, paying particular attention to the quality and presentation thereofTo assist with all meal serviceTo assist with the planning and costing of menusTo place orders with suppliers To assist with the completion of all administrative returns, salary variations etc.To issue stocks and receive goods, checking quality, quantity and price, also ensuring that these stocks are correctly stored and rotated. To make regular inspections to ensure that company and sanitary hygiene standards are maintainedTo carry our regular on-the-job Training sessions, be constantly aware of staff who have potential for development and ensure that these people are highlighted for promotionTo be full conversant with HSE regulations and report any defect to the managerTo be sensitive to the needs of subordinate staff and report any problems or breaches of discipline to the manager To be security conscious at all times and ensure storerooms, safes and lockable areas are secureTo assist with stocktaking on a regular basisTo attend meetings and training courses as required To assume control of the unit and use initiative in the absence of the manager
