Purpose of the position: To advise the business on best practice commercial models, give guidance and commercial input and manage the accounting function to maximise efficiencies and optimise the Supply Chain operations and therefore the department results.

Job Description

Control, manage and evaluate the full finance support function, including policies and procedures, for the Supply Chain Team
• Understand all systems that relate and effect the supply chain department, identifying potential opportunities to enhance current systems and procedures, evaluating the functioning of new technology
• Work with the Supply chain team to assess current processes and assist with the design, implementation and execution of new processes and policies to ensure that all financial considerations (risks, efficiencies, effectiveness) are addressed - i.e. Drive the change management and education of finance policies, procedures, processes and templates
• Ensure controls are adequate, and suggest and implement additional controls where necessary, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards
• Monitor and track adherence to the various finance policies, procedures, processes and templates
• Ensure full reconciliation of all income statement and balance sheet accounts, highlight and implement improvements around reconciliation process
• Produce detailed reporting on all financial aspects of the businesses to enable tracking of progress
• Support supply chain team on the consistent application of finance policies, procedures, processes and templates
• Monitor and track impact and business benefit of changes in policies and procedures

Consolidate and interpret Supply Chain budgets, forecasts and actual performance
• Obtain the Group budget guidelines and gain an understanding of what needs to be applied to the Supply Chain budgets
• Liaise with the Supply Chain team and capture budget information received into the budget model tool
• Evaluate budget information received and discuss errors or omissions with stakeholders
• Meet all timelines and have realistic and achievable budgets
• Compile financial forecasts and continuously revise and track the forecasts
• Do monthly reports of actuals and give guidance to supply chain on variances (volume as well as price variances)

Develop and conduct trend analysis on the financial results
• Review the status of accounting records and ensure that they are timeous and accurate
• Review recon files quarterly
• Produce management packs/financial reports to assist in effective and efficient management of the supply chain discipline
• Define a model to determine benchmarking and best practice financial ratios and analysis
• Conduct analysis on financial data and identify trends
• Discuss findings with supply chain team and make recommendation for improvements
• Drive implementations and track impact
Manage relationships with stakeholders
• Collaborate with stakeholder to understand the business drivers and operational challenges
• Advise and support the Supply Chain team when using financial information for strategic decisions making to enable the Directors to make an informed decision
• Build relationships with the Supply Chain team in order to understand their needs
• Drive change management across relevant finance process in order to support the optimisation and enhancement of the Finance function and the commercial effectiveness of the department
• Manage financial aspects of all 3rd parties in the supply chain space.
