The Package: 
  • Salary depending on experience (from R7k to R25k CTC per month)
  • 22 days annual leave
  • Working for an established London based employer 
  • Working with London based clients (predominately) 
  • Access to a healthcare scheme
  • 40 – 45 hours per week, shifts during
    the core business hours of Monday – Friday, 8am – 9pm as well as some out of hours shifts, a flexible approach to shift times is essential for this role
What Does a Support Engineer Do?
1st-line engineer
  • Basic technical trouble shooting (e.g. password resets; cabling; access; workstation configuration)
  • Rebuilds of workstations
  • Installation of software
  • Requires a level of supervision (whether onsite or remote)
  • Qualification equivalent: A+ or MCITP

2nd-line engineer
  • Minimal supervision required
  • Average to good trouble shooting skills (e.g. AD; servers; workstations; databases; networking)
  • Ability to know where to find information if unable to resolve (i.e. technical sites; vendors; etc)
  • Rebuilds of servers
  • Troubleshooting of applications
  • Qualification equivalent: MCSA

3rd-line engineer
  • No supervision required
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills (e.g. Fortigate; Citrix; VM Ware; Exchange)
  • Investigation of repeat failures and establishing root cause
  • Consultancy on technical projects/solutions
  • Qualification equivalent: MCSE
 
So, Am I Right for the Job?
  • Experience of providing IT Support in a commercial environment relevant to your level (i.e. 1+ year for entry level etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience supporting Microsoft software (Office, Exchange, Active Directory, Server etc) 
  • Formal IT qualification, ideally MCSE/MCITP or multiple MCPs is massively advantageous but not essential!
