Systems Analyst / Information Systems

We have a small head office in Plumstead and a national network of stakeholders who are dedicated to making good things happen. We are seeking a capable, energetic and very bright individual to be responsible for coordinating the development and maintenance of information systems within the organisation.
The chosen candidate will play an important role in identifying, creating and implementing new information systems and technology solutions in the organisation. The role requires proven analytical skills, a passion for problem solving and excellent IS skills.

Experience and Training:

1. University degree in Information Systems or related
2. Proven Information Systems skills
3. Prior work experience, 3-5 years in similar field
4. Database management experience
5. Advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite
6. SQL and MySQL experience (non-negotiable)
7. Sound understanding of OO principles
8. Sound understanding of System Development Methodology and Architecture
9. Working knowledge of UML
10. Research and understand business needs and requirements
11. Creating functional specifications and system design specifications
12. Familiarity with the following languages: PHP, HTML, CSS, JS

Core Competencies:

Proven ability to analyse problems and apply effective, innovative solutions to resolve them. Strong organizational and project management, written and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage a team and to work effectively without close supervision is required. Candidate should have a passion for making a difference, be self-motivated, meticulous and detail-orientated. Candidate should be culturally sensitive, personable and a reliable and committed team member.

Key Tasks:

1. Day to day maintenance of IT infrastructure;
2. Creating new or improving data processing solutions;
3. Knowledge Management
4. Website and email maintenance
5. Identify, create and implement new information systems and technology solutions in the organisation
6. Communicate with the developer during the creation & maintenance of long-term and adhoc IT systems to resolve business problems
7. Manage internal team, and external service provider
