Job Title: Systems Controller

Job Purpose Statement

To manage the cargo logistics systems and the associated information to facilitate the allocation of resources for the effective delivery of processed cargo.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide input into the yearly cargo operations operational plan
  • Record and report on a weekly basis to the Cargo Operations Manager the volumes of cargo processed through the cargo terminal
  • Conduct analysis on cargo statistics
  • Implement new systems and ensure integration Co-ordinate and implement e-freight strategy ensuring operational readiness of all systems and processes geared towards an e-commerce environment
  • Provide reporting oversight to Customs and Excise
  • Control system clean-up and master data validation including updating and maintaining databases
  • Implement system enhancements
  • Perform the role of "super user", including system hierarchy maintenance and system access control
  • Raise any system problems with vendors and supervise corrections
  • Conduct regular new and refresher training sessions for employees on Cargo systems
  • Design Operations processes and procedures
  • Maintain Standard Operating procedures
  • Ensure that robust controls are built into procedures and regularly assess their effectiveness.  Where necessary, institute new controls
  • Monitor compliance with established procedures across the terminal
  • Manage logistics systems projects in the cargo terminal
  • Managing contracts (ad hoc)
  • Compile weekly logistics performance reports for Operations management and the broader Company management
  • Develop, implement and control shift rosters and make adjustments where required
  • Assist Cargo Operations Manager in procurement processes
  • Review  time and attendance records and timesheets and report to management monthly
  • Implement ICT Governance processes and procedures

Competencies and skills

  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years' experience in a logistics environment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant IT and IT Systems experience, and/or IT qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Certificates in cargo handling system utilisation and control
  • MS Office at an intermediate level, in particular MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Remuneration Guideline

  • Remuneration: Between R 291 084pa & R 506 280pa
  • Guaranteed Annual Package on a cost to company basis
  • Provident Fund (compulsory) structured from guaranteed package
  • Non-guaranteed performance bonus
  • 20 working days leave per annum
