My client based in the East of Pretoria with local and international ties in the defence industry has a position available for a Systems Engineer. They focus on Cyber Defence, Command & Control, Acquisition Support, Command and Control Technology, Interoperability, Capability Management, Communication Systems and Smart Systems.

You will be responsible for applied systems engineering in the above areas, with a strong focus on the early systems engineering phases, including conceptualisation and architecture design. Requirements analysis, concept problem description, concept solution design, verification and validation and systems engineering management are equally important.

Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Industrial Engineering.
Preferably a Master's degree in either Engineering, Engineering Management or Systems Engineering.
A minimum of 2 years' systems engineering experience.
3 years or more experience in engineering.
In-depth knowledge of systems engineering approaches from requirements, architecture, design and analysis of complex systems, to system life-cycles;
Experience in the following would be advantageous; Systems engineering tools; Capability management; Telecommunications, ICT or interoperability; Research and development for the defence industry.
Good technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential.
A strong analytical capability and a scientific approach to problem-solving.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a definite self-starter.
Independent worker and team player.
Excellent communication skills.
A track record of delivering on brief, on budget and on time while working under pressure is essential.
SA citizenship is necessary as a security clearance is required for this position.

Responsibilities
Problem identification and definition, and requirements analysis.
Conceptual problem and solution descriptions, including scoping.
Identification and definition of interoperability implications.
Systems engineering management.
Work in military research environment that serves both local and international client and stakeholders.
Coordinate with clients and subject matter experts in various disciplines and transfer knowledge to engineers and analysts.
Oversee technical work that includes a significant portion of modelling and simulation.
Establish and grow effective relationships with specific clients.
Work with a team of expert in their respective disciplines.
Lead small project teams.
Lead local and international business development efforts.
