POSITION:                      Systems Technician

LOCATION:                      West Rand(Krugersdorp)

MAIN PURPOSE:

To provide specialist support to Clients systems in the factory and in the field.


EDUCATION SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

  • MATRIC - Grade 12.
  • N. Dip. (Electrical) or Section 13 Qualified Millwright or Fitter with electrical, mechanical and hydraulic experience

COMPUTER LITERACY:

  • Microsoft office.
  • Microsoft Visio
  • Familiar with engine and transmission configuration management


KEY PERFORMANCE AREA / JOB DUTIES:

  • Interpret electrical schematics for both 24V DC automotive and low voltage AC (max 1000V) systems.
  • Interpret hydraulic schematics of the hydraulic systems used on Clients Mining Equipment machines
  • Install embedded controller software as required on different machine controllers
  • Perform tests and take measurements to validate the performance of the electrical system.
  • Perform tests and take measurements to validate the general performance of a machine both in the factory and in the field
  • Ensure that the relevant electrical workmanship standards are adhered to when working on electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Fault find and trouble shoot electrical systems both in the factory and in the field
  • Instruct the electrical workshop personnel and clients how to trouble shoot machine systems (Hydraulic and electrical)
  • Identify root causes of electrical failures on machine systems and write service reports thereon.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Render technical assistance on all equipment as required by your Line Manager
  • Report to client before leaving site by means of a neat, complete and detailed service report
  • Immediately report any abuse / negligence by the operators on any of the Clients equipment, listing the relevant details to the supervisor and Line Manager in control of the operation and to the site supervisor
  • At all times be medical fit to perform duties

 

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-3 Years’ experience in a similar position
  • Auto electrical and experience in Mining Industry equipment advantages
  • Must have the ability to comprehend the electro hydraulic functioning of the vehicle system
  • Experience with SAE J1939, CAN Open and other CAN protocols

Other Requirements:

  • Underground work will be required thus the candidate must be prepared to visit and troubleshoot machines in the field.
  • Required to assist, time to time, with attending to machine faults in the field (onsite)

Candidate must preferably reside in the West Rand or close by areas
