• The Tank Manager manages the Tank repair program along with a team of engineers, supervisors, scopers and planners. In this role, the Tank Manager ensures that Tanks are maintained as per API 653 guidelines and in accordance with established inspection schedules. Work includes scoping, planning, cleaning, repairs and project oversight.
• Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment.
• Responsible to meet budget and schedule expectations as well as increase site reliability for the site tank population.
• Chair the Tank Steering Committee monthly meetings and drive continuous improvement in this space.
• Responsible for the development and execution of Tank personnel strategy including training requirements, performance management plans and reviews, attrition and resource planning, hiring recommendations and career mentoring.
• Responsible for identifying and implementing cleaning and repair strategies.
• Ensure tank cleaning and repair scope is done in accordance with site policies and employs the most suitable industry technologies, practices and processes. Role is responsible to drive continuous improvement in these processes.
• Work with the site Inspection Team to ensure compliance dates are being met and inspections are scheduled accordingly.
• Responsible for proving forward looking estimates both within a year and for future budget years.
• Work with the Tank Steering Committee to ensure alignment on scope, costs and durations.
• Create and manage the Tank Team key performance indicators and ensure these support the Tank Steering Committee Objectives.
• Serve as the site subject matter expert and represent SAPREF in the BP and Shell Tank Networks.
• Pro-actively resolve unmitigated risks and/or escalate concerns about unmitigated risks as necessary.
• Cultivate interfaces with other departments for effective Tank execution.
• Provide Leadership to support a culture of diversity and inclusion with staff and contractors.

Job Requirements

• Engineering Degree
• Graduate Certificated Engineer.


Experience
20 Years of Refinery or Petrochemical experience required, with at least 10 years in Tank Maintenance engineering, project management and Team Leadership.
Required Skills / Competencies
• Strong understanding and capability associated with project management, controls, contract/procurement strategy development, Tank Overhaul strategy development/dependencies (with maintenance, inspection, production, project, economics and planning).
• Possess business case capability of a major project leader. Strong leader with demonstrated track record of working across organizational boundaries to enroll and energize teams to deliver.
• Capability and competency to coach, guide and mentor Tank Supervisors and Engineers effectively by valuing expertise, energizing people, acting decisively, and delivering results specific to Tank program safety, quality, schedule and cost.
• Strong understanding of API 653.
