Job Description:

  TAX RISK MANAGEMENT

*Identifying and mitigating tax risks proactively
* Managing and coordinating tax audits
* Researching the implications of tax laws and advise affected parties on tax related issues
* To be fully aware of and develop strategies to deal with new and changed tax legislation and inform affected parties of such anticipated changes
* Managing and assisting in any potential litigation related to tax

TAX COMPLAINCE & GENERAL

* Monitor SARS e-filing to ensure that all Dividends Tax, VAT and EMP201 returns are submitted monthly and keep appropriate records
* Complete and submit Dividends Tax Data and Dividends Tax Returns
* Maintain tax records, ensure correspondence is filed appropriately and record all SARS notices
* Reviewing complex income tax returns
* Assist in collating and reviewing and submitting all information necessary for the completion of the annual IT14 tax returns and also the finalization of the IT14 process
* Follow up to ensure assessments are issued timeously and correctly
* Notify Tax Manager of all exceptions within 24 hours of non-compliance or if assessment deviate from return or anticipated result
* Provide Tax Manager / Group Finance Manager with monthly summaries of all indirect taxes paid within the Group
* Receive and dispatch all SARS communication as necessary and inform the Tax Manager / Group Finance Manager of matters requiring his attention
* Assist in the provisional tax payment process where needed
* Assist in collating information and drafting responses in reply to SARS queries for review and submission by the Tax Manager / Group Finance Manager
* Review, update and maintain the database of users and entities/divisions registered on e-filing and assist e-filing users with any related queries /problems, liaising with SARS e-filing representative where required
* Assist with applications for tax clearance certificates, follow up and investigate applications that have been declined or arrange for collection of approved applications
* Assist with updating the SARS database regarding any change in a Group taxpayers’ affairs
* Provide Tax support to Finance department as part of consolidation process
* Facilitate the booking and payment of training events as required
* Complying with international tax reporting requirements (CRS, FATCA, Country-by-Country reporting, etc.) with regards to the filing of required documentation
* Building and maintaining appropriate documentation of income tax work papers
* Establish and maintain appropriate and professional relationship with the SARS as first point of contact on tax related matters, including queries.
* Build relationships and interact with tax consultants to provide planning, consulting and expertise on a variety of tax related matters and to ensure advice received properly addresses associated risk and communicating outcome to affected parties
