The successful candidate will be expected to play a strategic and leadership role on all tax related matters, and to ensure the compliance of all tax laws. This role will be reporting to the Financial Controller.

Duties:

Timeous computation, preparation and submission of accurate direct and indirect tax returns.
Preparation of VAT cash flow, deferred taxation and current taxation for profit estimates, budgets and strategic plans.
Prepare journals for tax payments and refunds.
Managing, forecasting and conducting a variance analysis of the effective tax rate.
Report risk related issues that may result in penalties and interest to the Audit Committee and Group Tax.
Proactively seek opportunities to achieve tax savings.
Perform reconciliations of current and deferred tax in general ledger on a monthly basis.
Review VAT reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Calculate current and deferred tax liabilities for all local companies.
Prepare interim and year-end tax packs schedules.
Prepare and submit income tax, provisional tax and dividends tax returns to SARS.
Maintain a professional working relationship with all related stakeholders.
Contribute to assessing and responding initiatives that may affect the Company’s tax profile.
Building a pro-active and collaborative relationship with SARS to attend to queries timeously and agreeing on course of action to address identified risks.
Manage the tax accrual review by auditors and attend to escalated queries.
Regular monitoring of systems and internal controls and conducting of compliance reviews on a rotational basis, recommending and implementing changes, where necessary.
Reviewing new tax legislation and reporting standards timeously and undertaking any other compliance related activities to collectively and pro-actively drive tax compliance
Requirements:

A qualified CA (SA) with post-graduate tax qualification or B.Com with post-graduate tax qualification.
A valid driver’s licence
Minimum of 5 years accounting and corporate tax experience.
