TBIS, a division of PBT Group, has a requirement for a Divisional Manager/Principle BI Consultant for the Gauteng Region.


Under general direction, to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and evaluate the activities of a regional operational division of a Business Intelligence Professional Services company including client based consulting and presales consulting.


SKILLS REQUIRED:


Thorough knowledge of:


  • Principles of Business Analytics and Information Management
  • Principles of supervision and training.
  • Principles and methods used in analysis and development of BI solutions including Agile and Operational BI

Working knowledge of IBM Business Analytics and Information Management solutions:


  • The uses and limitations thereof.
  • Current developments.
  • Principles and methods of business applications and value derived from use
  • Principles and methods used in software integration and acquisition

Some knowledge of:


  • Accounting procedures, office procedures, budget and control.

Ability to:


  • Plan, coordinate, schedule and direct the work of divisional staff.
  • Coordinate divisional activities with other divisions and departments.
  • Exercise initiative, ingenuity and sound judgement in solving difficult administrative, technical and personnel problems.
  • Plan, coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement recommendations.
  • Evaluate divisional policy and program practices, define problem areas, develop and direct the implementation of policy decisions and practices to improve divisional operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors
  • Select, develop, modify, test and maintain system control programs and specialized hardware.
  • Understand and translate application programming requirements into effective systems software products.
  • Assess the causes of systems failures and to initiate corrective action.
  • Develop and conduct employee training programs.
  • Analyze the capabilities and limitations of software and hardware packages.
  • Prepare software and professional services proposals.
  • Plans, coordinates and directs the work of division staff;
  • Reassigns staff as necessary to address critical problems;
  • Evaluates divisional work program and activities and formulates improvements;
  • Participates in administrative and technical studies of business analytics and information management needs;
  • Prepares and directs the preparation of management and activity reports;
  • Review problems pertaining to divisional activities;
  • Consults with Managing Director on work program, schedules and departmental policy;
  • Develops and adapts work methods and procedures to meet divisional needs;
  • Confers with vendors, consultants and contractors;
  • Confers with and advises on administrative policies and procedures, priorities and technical problems;
  • Participates in development of standards;
  • Reviews divisional training program and recommends changes as needed;
  • Reviews materials to keep current on developments in the business analytics (incl. business intelligence) field;
  • Prepares correspondence.
  • Participates in assessment of hardware and software needs and acquisition;
  • Participates in design review of complex/critical solutions, new developments or modifications;
  • Evaluates major manufacturer developed products for efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Plans, coordinates and carries out a variety of professional services customer engagements, support and service activities, including software installation, integration and management.
  • Oversees in-house software training program for regional employees;
