Technical Fleet Controller / Technical Advisor / Qualified Diesel Mechanic – Johannesburg South

Well established transport company is looking for a Workshop Manager / Technical Controller / Advisor / Qualified Diesel Mechanic with supervisory or management experience to administer the repairs and maintenance of the company's fleet of vehicles (Trucks) in accordance with the technical departments. The controller (Technical) interacts with the technical workshops to plan vehicles for repairs and to ensure that the vehicles are repaired to our standard and within budget.

Minimum Requirements
• Matric
• Qualified Diesel mechanic with at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management position.
• Must be prepared to work long hours as and when necessary
• Must be able to work independently
• Code 08 license and have your own transport (Code 14 with PDP will be advantageous)
• Strong computer skills and communication skills
• Have ability to diagnose faults on all types’ commercial vehicles and trailing equipment (knowledge of hydraulics and Dry Bulk tankers would be an advantage).
• Proven track record in similar environment will be an advantage
• Have a good understanding of the costs involved to operating heavy commercial vehicles and related equipment

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Quality of workmanship of suppliers and outputs from our Technical workshops
• Costs against budget and agreed CPK arrangements with suppliers
• Processes and procedures as laid out in the SLA agreements with suppliers
• Issue of service requests and follow up on suppliers to minimise downtime
• Tyre purchases and suppliers quality
• Claims and queries from operations departments and to support the same
• Servicing of all assets under his/her control and to ensure legal compliance.
• General administration duties, including job card control, data capturing into the companies maintenance system.
• Performing historical maintenance checks against repeat failures to ensure suppliers are held accountable on warranty work
• Procurement of parts and consumables where necessary and outside service providers services
• Any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time
• Maintaining a clean working environment
• Health and safety related matters within his area of control
