Technical Manager (D1)

THE COMPANY (Synopsis)
The company is situated in Jacobs, Durban and manufactures specialty chemicals for the mining, PVC, explosives and battery industries (local and international).

KEY OBJECTIVES (Job Description – Key Objectives)
The Primary objective of this position is to manage the organization’s Laboratory, Provide Technical support, Product Development and QA/QC Function in accordance with short and long term company objectives to ensure that:
• laboratory is completely staffed and suitably equipped to provide testing and inspection services as required by the manufacturing and sales functions as well as specific customer needs
• Support is available t technically assist the sales function in evaluating the customer needs and problems, formulation of solutions/reformulations and conducting of trials to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solutions
• Provide support to the production function to resolve chemistry related and other problems
• Quality assurance and control procedures are formulated and implemented for raw materials, interim processes and finished goods that will maintain product conformance to required standard
• Initiate and manage projects timeously and within budget
• The Group HSE and ISO standards are adhered to

Reporting to the Technical Sales Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Job Description – Specifications)
• Education: Matric and BSc or equivalent Chemical/Analytical Degree or Diploma
• Experience: 5 to 10 years managerial experience in a similar position and a Successful track record in a similar environment.
• Other: Sound communication skills. Computer Literate. Good interpersonal skills.
Team Leader/ Mentorship experience.
