The Company

The Media Image is a leading online paid search specialist agency based in Cape Town, servicing both local and UK clients. Specialising in all forms of paid and SEO search (Facebook, AdWords, Display, Bing) we have grown rapidly to be a leading SA and UK agency and are looking to expand our employee base.

The Role

Main point of contact for all technical SEO issues including both on page and off site factors. The role needs a strong understanding of coding such as HTML5 and JavaScript, UI/UX factors, product development/production cycles and 3rd party platforms such as Facebook OpenGraph and WordPress. Taking these elements and ensuring client objectives are met, by implementing client strategy through agreed tasks and working with support team to deliver.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of all SEO fundamentals
• Working knowledge of html code and any other popular coding platforms such as JavaScript.
• Experienced at building/developing sites from scratch without the help of off the shelf products like Wordpress.
• Understanding of UI/UX and how this affects conversion rates and SEO.
• Excellent communicator, with an ability to professionally converse with clients and colleagues
• Highly effective organiser of oneself and others
• Good command of the English language, including written grammar, and spelling.
• Proficient in all Microsoft tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Good data analysis skills
• Very importantly, a willingness to learn, and keep learning new skills from working with others and through ongoing personal reading and research.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Main point of contact for assigned clients on all technical issues.
• Ensure clear objectives are agreed and understood.
• Ensure any limitations (technical/resource) on the client’s side is understood and communicated to the client and TMI team.
• Work with client and with Head of Strategy / Account Manager to agree most effective actions and dates for delivery, recording all on workplan.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, and completed on or before agreed date/time.
• When required work with support and management team to deliver client tasks outside of technical remit.
• Answer all client questions/requests within 3 working hours
o Even if this is to advise more time is required to answer in full.
• Responsibility of delivering client actions on time will always fall with the Account Manager, but it is the Technical Manager’s responsibility to ensure the Account Manager is aware of any issues so that they can keep the client informed.
• Monitor reports and SEO tools such as Webmaster tools to identify problems and opportunities at earliest opportunity.
• Ensure that insightful commentary is sent with all reports, always with clear next steps and actions.
• Have a clear understanding of the profitability, costs and overheads associated with your clients.
• Work with Head of Strategy / Account Manager to agree most effective SEO strategy for your clients.
• Identify new ways to exploit technical aspects to the benefit of SEO e.g. better ways for clients to utilize existing content management systems such as the IIS SEO plugin.

Personal development

• Carry out ongoing personal & attend company led research and training to ensure you develop your overall knowledge of SEO and any other complimentary areas, especially in the following topics
o All areas relevant to TMI SEO strategies
o New areas of SEO development
o Search engine changes and updates
o Understanding of website architecture, internal link structure, server and CMS requirements
o Ability to work with technical teams to produce websites that are optimised for search
o Ability to perform detailed audits to identify technical issues
o Understand how to construct sites to maximise search engine visibility through coding and rich mark up.
o Understand analytics packages for analysis for reporting
o Confident to consult with clients on website UX and CRO
o Ability to educate TMI team on the latest SEO strategies and techniques.
o Ability to assist business development process.
