Introduction
My client is a company in the Nutrition/healthcare industry in Pretoria East who is looking to expand the Sales Department and have a vacancy for a Business Developer with the technical skills in health and nutrition.

They are looking for someone with a recent qualification in Health and nutrition with good communication skills and telephone manner.

They need an enthusiastic person who can be pro-active in looking for potential new customers, follow up sales leads, support the Sales Team and provide a high level of Technical customer service. After training, this will involve providing technical recommendations and specifications for the company’s range of raw materials.

The purpose of this job is to promote / develop and increase sales of the Company’s products and contracting activities within Food, Nutrition and Personal Care markets. The successful applicant will need to be self-motivated, methodical, computer literate and be happy to assist with various marketing functions including sending mailshots, database entries and general office duties.

Experience & Requirements:
•Relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Nutrition Sciences
•Background in food and/or nutrition
•Possess a pleasant telephone manner and confident telephone sales technique
•Computer literate
•Must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and resilient
•Maintain a sense of humour
•Self-disciplined and methodical
•Effectively manage time and resources available
•Review potential new areas for sales development
•Review and monitor sales leads
•Progress enquiries on own initiative
•Able to multi-task
•Be keen to learn about the Company’s products and to develop the skills and technical knowledge required for this role

Reports to: Executive Sales Manager

Technical Sales
•Ensure clients are provided with an efficient Technical Sales service through the Sales Team.
•Assist with researching new sales opportunities and projects for both potential product and contract sales.
•Visit international suppliers for training
•Produce technical recommendations (after training).
•Produce finished samples for Sales & Marketing, when applicable.
•Work closely with Sales Team and customers and suppliers to understand their developments and effectively link the company product features and benefits to promote sales.

Marketing
•Assist with marketing to existing and potential new customers including e-marketing, mailshots.
•Establish and maintain positive work relationships and work productively with groups within the market.

Analysis & Support
•Generate reports by gathering relevant data and distributing to relevant stakeholders
•Collate industry trends and anticipate future market needs
•Quote Customers on any new enquiries

Administration
•Ensure accurate records are maintained on the company’s database to allow future sales analysis and lead tracking of customers and product specifications.
•Ensure all relevant paperwork is kept up to date and in accordance with the Company’s quality procedures.
•Quality and audit questionnaires enquiries are dually completed.

Development
•Assess and continually look to improve technical sales service and actively seek out new sales opportunities by application.
•Develop the necessary skills and knowledge of the Company’s products.
•Supply feedback to the Sales Manager and Directions as to current status of projects/sales leads on a regular basis, and to report at sales meetings as required.
