Job Title: Technical Support Officer

Job Description:
Reporting to the Mine’s SLP Co-ordinator and Engineer (technical reporting), we are looking for a suitably qualified candidate who will be responsible for ensuring that work on Company initiated CSI/LED and property management projects/programmes are carried out and conforms to specifications as well as meeting budgetary, quality and safety standards.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Oversee contractors working on CSI/LED projects
Responsible for on-site coordination, planning, quality control, supervision, waste control, environmental aspects and progress reporting of civil, mechanical and structural work done
Perform on the job audits comparing work in progress against contractual requirements
Perform final handover inspections of completed work
Perform expediting of materials required in order to execute work on time
Coach and mentor SME’s
Oversee budget and cost control of projects
Evaluation of quotations and tenders.
Ensure compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards
Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
Minimum Requirements:
Qualified Artisan will be an advantage
Valid drivers’ license (EB)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil and structural construction in a supervisory capacity
Experience in dealing with Community development projects / forums – an advantage
Able to read and interpret civil, structural and mechanical drawings
2 years’ experience at Foreman level will be an advantage
Computer literate MS Office Suite
MS Projects experience will be an advantage
Other Skills/Competencies:
Working knowledge of civil and structural construction
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and one other official language
Budgeting and cost control
Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates. Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance will form part of the recruitment and selection process. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview
