Large blue chip national company based in the Vaal Triangle is looking for a person to join their highly dynamic team

The purpose of the job is to lead, manage and co-ordinate technical and operational training plans, making sure they are effective for training new staff members and developing the required skills in the existing workforce to meet the needs of the business as it changes and develops.
The training manager will identify, maintain and improve training programs.
The Manager will also manage the technical training team and ensure mandatory training is adequately resourced. The responsibility for SETA related training and activities also fall within the Technical Training Department

Qualifications:
• Applicable Tertiary Qualification in Engineering Field
• Exposure within Human Resource Management or Learning and Development a distinct advantage
• Constituent Assessor
• Constituent Moderator: Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical engineering
• Skills Development Facilitator an advantage
• Sound knowledge in applicable legislation such as National Skills Development Act an advantage

Experience
• Proven work experience as a Technical Training Manager or in a Training Capacity (Minimum of 5 years on management level)
• Sound knowledge of modern education and best practices techniques.
• Experience in updating, developing and accessing training material and courses.
• Experience in system implementation
• Experience in World Class Practices Methodology advantageous

Duties:
The primary function of this role is to ensure adequate skills in the operational workforce to meet business demands :

Performance:
• Implement and drive continuous improvement activities throughout the key processes within the department
• Work with Senior Managers and Projects team to anticipate future requirements and direction and have plans in place and develop the required skills in the existing workforce to meet the needs of the business as it changes and develops on the journey towards World Class Principles
• Support business development through a ‘can do’ approach balanced with a good understanding of how to optimise production performance through training.
• Ensure the Training Need Analysis, Skills Matrix and Annual Training Plans are completed, updated and maintained per production facility
• Ensure required induction of newly appointed employees and contractors
• Liaise with CHIETA, Industry ,FET Colleges and Vaal University of Technology on relevant areas of interest
• Overview of the apprenticeship scheme as well as the NQF Learner ships to ensure adherence to CHIETA Quality Management System requirements and internal quality standards
• Evaluate training programs on an annual basis to ensure customer satisfaction
• Ensure timely completion of learning and support the embedding of Key Skills/Functional Skills.
• Introduce new technology to facilitate training
• Reporting to required structures as required in-line with position and department mandate

Safety
• Ensures the safety culture element is incorporated into all training documentation and ensure that transfer is effective to improve safety the standards within the factory.
• Support any safety initiatives as required and suggest any improvements.

Quality
• Provide training that fits with an ‘audit ready’ philosophy to ensure that audits are not a special event.
• Regularly reviews feedback from training courses / documentation users and ensures actions taken to address specific focus points and improve overall satisfaction.
• Assess and evaluate all training providers to ensure they all affiliated by a SETA.
• To ensure the quality of the assessment process by working with internal moderators, Line Managers and attending regular standardisation meetings.

People
• Demonstrate leadership of the training function by setting clear goals and targets that everyone is held accountable to.
• Develop a training budget, control costs and drive improvement in terms of training materials, labour, productivity, of their direct reports.
• Implement and drive continuous improvement activities throughout the key processes
• Coach and mentor protégées training.
• Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to the work of the section are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post.
• Carry out any duties at all times in accordance with the policies and procedures.
• Incorporate into the role the philosophy, values and behaviour stated in the Mission and Strategic Plans.
• Promote within the company a positive approach to security and discipline.
• Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the level of the position, which the General Manager (Human Resources) may require from time to time.
