Job Description: To manage and co-ordinate the activities of the Technical Services & Assurance Department. The main function
of this department will be to provide a technical service and assurance function in the disciplines of mining, metallurgy and
engineering. This will include the development of alternate, more effective ways and means to meet the requirements and targets of
the mine’s production and expansion plans, as well as to provide assurance to the General Manager in these fields.
Tasks and Responsibilities
? Provide technical support services to the Mining, Plant and Engineering departments
? Provide technical expertise to the operation on production and project related matters in order to minimise risks and losses
? Provide assurance to the General Manager that all legal appointees in the fields of Mining, Metallurgy, Engineering and
Technical Services, as appointed by the General Manager, comply with the technical aspects of the relevant legislation
? Set standards, specifications and service levels according to organisational objectives to ensure maximum operational
effectiveness in area of responsibility
? Provide assurance that all processes in the Mining, Plant and Engineering departments are running at maximum efficiency,
maximum productivity and at the lowest sustainable cost possible
? Direct the implementation of strategic mining plans in area of responsibility
? Direct the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to mining, plant and engineering standards,
organisational standards and legislative requirements
? Manage concept designs for future mining blocks
? Manage the compilation of the Mine’s Life of Mine Plan and Mine Works Programme as aligned with Group objectives
? Develop alternate, more effective ways and means of optimising mineral resources and ore bodies
? Ensure adherence to the company's Health, Safety and Environmental management programmes and objectives and their
implementation according to statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan
? Establish and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships

Minimum Requirements:
? B.Tech., B.Eng. or B.Sc. Engineering Degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Engineering disciplines
? Government Certificate of Competency for Mines and Works
? At least 15 years’ experience in the mining industry of which at least 5 years’ experience at a middle management level
? Senior Management Development Programme (NQF Level 7)
? Code EB drivers’ licence
Advantageous (Skills, Competencies, Experience):
? At least 8 years’ experience in mining will be to your advantage
? Valid Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence
? Project Management experience
? Excel Advanced

? Good written and verbal communication in English
? Successful and credible leader, with clear and demonstrable experience in leading
? High level of technical knowledge of mining operations and processes
