Temp: Governance & Secretariat:

Purpose: The purpose of the role is to provide professional, informed secretariat and governance support to our client’s Board and Committees.

Location: Midrand | Contract Type: Temp | Start Date: Monday, 6 May 2019 | Remuneration: R140.00 p/h

Key Performance Areas (KPAs):
• To coordinate meetings for the various governance structures including the timeous distribution of all supporting documentation/packs required for the preparations of the meetings.
• To assist with the coordination of the Annual General Meeting and Strategic Planning Session for the client.
• To record proceedings of the various meetings and prepare minutes.
• To communicate Board decision numbers/resolutions internally.
• Monitor the implementation of board resolutions and provide on-going feedback.
• To stay abreast of legislative and corporate governance developments, board and various committees including internal stakeholders, on matters of ethics and good governance
• To assist the company secretary to drive compliance with the client’s constitution and all other applicable legislation.
• To procure training for board/committees as and when required.
• To assist the company secretary in the coordination of board evaluation on an annual basis.
• To work together with the company secretary in the compilation of the strategic plan and annual performance plan, as well as the communication thereof to DHET, National Treasury etc.
• To ensure proper record keeping for the governance department in order to comply with the audit requirements.
Inherent Requirements
• Proven experience in the Governance and Secretariat role.
• Required: Demonstrated experience in providing secretariat functions in a complex environment (corporate or public sector) i.e. supporting boards, committees and subcommittees.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with executive and senior managers and key external stakeholders.
• High level IT skills especially MS Access, MS Word, PowerPoint & MS Excel
• Desirable: Post-secondary or tertiary qualifications combined with relevant work experience advantageous.
