Position: Temp Debtors Clerk (2 month contract)

We are looking for an isiXhosa speaking debtor’s clerk to provide support to our finance team for a fixed term period of two months at our Oude Westhof branch.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Debtors Ledger accurately and ensuring that all payments are received and accurately accounted for. They must also reconcile customer accounts, send monthly statements to customers and assist in keeping accurate and complete financial records timeously and up to date.

Key Responsibilities
• Do accurate, complete and timeous invoicing
• Allocate payments received correctly
• Send out the invoices and credit notes to clients via email
• Follow up on all overdue amounts and act on the situation given for late payment to ensure we receive payment soonest
• Keep record of all communication with debtors to be able to provide feedback to the accountant regarding outstanding payments, expected
payment dates, reasons for long outstanding debts, etc.
• Communicate any debtor-related problems to the Financial Manager to escalate to the Sales Department if their assistance is required
• Ensure the necessary approvals are obtained prior to crediting invoices
• Do daily filing of the invoices/credit notes
• Submit monthly statements to customers

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric/Grade 12 with accounting as subject is essential – no degree required
• 2 years’ relevant experience as a debtors clerk
• Computer literate: Strong Excel skills
• 2 years’ experience working on well-known accounting package
• Fluent in Xhosa & English/Afrikaans
