Our client, a local Parastatal, requires a qualified and experienced Financial Manager to take on a Temporary Contract as soon as possible, to be based at their Head Office in Somerset West.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting
• Financial Management
• Resolution of day to day finance/ accounting queries (Internal & external)
• Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are produced on an accurate and timely basis (bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, VAT etc.)
• Developing and managing financial systems/ models which will enable proper monthly & quarterly reports including infrastructure projects reports
• Ensuring effective financial and risk management and proactively managing internal controls
• Produce required financial reports for Executive management, and quarterly reports as required by the Department of Water & Sanitation as well as National Treasury
• Preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements, regulations and standards
• Management - Oversee and supervise the finance department
• Audit - Prepare year-end audit file and liaise with external auditors
• Managing the budget process while contributing to effective strategic and business planning systems and ensuring timely management reporting
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards, regulatory and audit requirements

Minimum Requirements:
• A completed B. Comm (Hons) Degree
• 5 years’ senior level experience
• Extensive knowledge of applicable government prescripts such as PFMA, MFMA and treasury regulations (Essential)
• Knowledge of IFRS and accounting in the public sector
• Ability to work at both a detailed and strategic level – e.g. making payments and producing annual financial delivery plans etc.
• Knowledge of strategic and financial planning including activity costing, benchmarking, and KPIs
• Reporting Skills and Presentation Skills
• In-depth knowledge of the financial systems including payroll systems
• Good drafting, policy development and report writing skills
• Excellent communication and people management skills
• High level of computer literacy - Advanced skills in MS Office, specifically MS Excel

Salary on offer: R 647 000 P/A
