Job title: Theatre Manager
Reports to: Nursing Manager
Facility: Hospital
Location: East London

Introduction: A position exists for a Theatre Manager at the Hospital based in East London. The position reports to Nursing Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating the theatre complex in line with clinical protocols and company & hospital strategic objectives.


Qualification & Experience:

• Current registration with SANC as a professional Nurse
• Post –basic Theatre qualification /Diploma
• 5/8 years relevant theatre experience in a managerial capacity
• A relevant management qualification will be an added advantage
• Proven leadership abilities, sound communication and inter personal skills
• The ability to work well under pressure and assume responsibility for managing personal outputs
• Computer proficiency

Duties and responsibilities

• Conduct effective management by reviewing and maintaining the relevant inventory control reports and stock levels
• Ensuring effective product management
• Managing the implementation of formulary changes, accelerated product conversions and RSRT improvement
• Communicate to theatre staff and doctors to comply with formulary products
• Limit supplier access into theatre utilization by effectively allocating theatre time to doctors
• Minimize overtime hours by updating shift schedules and arranging call list
• Providing effectively people management by demonstrating visible leadership skills by sponsoring initiatives
• Develop a resourcing plan with the nursing team to ensure quality staff are recruited
• Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in theatre
• Develop learning opportunities for staff in order to ensure all staff members have a complete and relevant IDP
• Managing performance and productivity by conducting JPM’s and rewarding top performers
• Ensure transactional working relationships are supported by sound employees relations and compliance the IR policies
• Manage employee wellness by implementing strategies that ensure a fair work-life balance
• Establishing effective quality systems management by ensuring continuous improvement in patient safety
• Ensuring compliance to ISO measurement by the identification and closure of non-conformances
• Conducting operations, clinical and risk management by participating in consultative forum and management meetings
• Providing input in the budgeting and capex meetings
