Key Responsibilities:

• Scrubbing for a variety of disciplines – General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Neuro (craniotomy, laminectomy), ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology procedures.
• Adheres to Patients’ Rights at all times.
• Control of stock and equipment in accordance with policy.
• Provides learner support to learners and new employees.
• Ensures a therapeutic and safe patient environment by maintaining health and safety standards and complying with infection prevention and control policy.

Requirements:

• Registration with SANC as a Registered Nurse
• Theatre post basic qualification registered with SANC
• Scrubbing skills in multi-disciplinary fields (not cardiac)
• Must have scrubbed for craniotomies & laminectomies although these procedures are not done often
• Excellent knowledge of anatomy & pathophysiology
• Expert knowledge of the method of surgical procedures involved
• Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs
• Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
