Thermoforming Technician (Plastics), Johannesburg - Ref: 1029361

Our client manufactures disposable plastic products for the catering industry. They require a Thermoforming Technician to manage their Thermoforming division comprising a staff compliment of 35; responsible for overall operation, maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.

Reporting, total staff compliment: 35 (will oversee the entire Thermoforming division)
Primary purpose: Perform the role of the plant’s primary Thermoforming Technician responsible for overall operation, maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Job description / core competencies:
• Process setup and management of thermoforming operations.
• Train operators, mechanics and other technicians in thermoforming equipment operations and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and perform on-site repair of all thermoforming equipment and ancillary plant process equipment.
• Improve thermoforming and process equipment reliability by identifying equipment, maintenance and procedural improvements to enhance safety, improve productivity, reduce costs and improve quality.
• Identify and recommend safety, process and product improvement opportunities including evaluating equipment not performing to standard speed, cost reduction opportunities in all assigned areas processes based on experience and observations.
• Implement new or revised processes, procedures or operating practices in all areas and processes, changed SOP's, safety procedures, etc.
• Assist in the identification of training needs for production personnel and provide training. Work with project teams to solve problems.
• Comply with operational methods, personnel practices and all communicated requirements to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
