Grade 12 / N3
Computer Literate
OR Grade 10
N2 National Certificate
Qualified Rigger/ Ropesman Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship
Minimum 3 years post qualification experience as a Rigger
OwnValid Drivers’ License essential
safe and reliable lifting and rigging of heavy loads and maintain and inspect all rigging equipment and overhead cranes in the area of responsibility and all legal inspections and maintenance on winders.
Apply packing and lashing methods to secure loads
Assist with the recovering of broken down or redundant mining machinery and equipment from the mine face
Develop, construct and install all types of trade related equipment required for the safe operation of all rigging and lifting equipment
Inspect, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of rigging and lifting equipment according to the maintenance requirements
Lift and move loads using rigging equipment, mobile cranes and overhead cranes
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, OEM specifications and company standards and report all defects and breakdowns on lifting equipment and cranes to the Foreman
Perform risk assessments (Activity based and Mini)
Perform shaft slinging operations and assist with repairs to shaft steelwork and shaft maintenance
Replace overhead and mobile crane ropes as and when required
Responsible to ensure availability of safe rigging equipment
Creating rigging plans
Ensure that load testing of lifting equipment and cranes are carried out correctly
Responsible to inspect winder ropes, cut winder ropes and change winder ropes and attachments
Responsible for trade related administration
Select applicable rigging equipment based on load weights, sizes, facilities and work schedules
Conduct on-the-job training for allocated apprentices
Participate in planning shutdowns, resources, tools and spares relevant to the shutdown activities
Responsible for the management of consumable stock levels (amongst others, spares and hydro carbons)
Responsible for attending to Winder and Shaft equipment breakdowns
Conduct maintenance, examinations and inspections in accordance with relevant legislation and OEM specifications on winder ropes
R28 000 – R28 000 plus overtime pay – shifts- overtime- standbye and call out payed per hour
