JOB PURPOSE:
The trade credit manager position is accountable for the entire credit management process for Trade Receivables, including the consistent application of a credit policy, monthly book reviews of existing customers, management of all the company’s debtors in such a manner that all income is accurately and completely recorded and debt is collected within prescribed policy to minimize bad debt risk and reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding). The credit manager is expected to develop relationships with all customers and understand their needs by communicating effectively with them on issues relating to their indebtedness to the company.

KEY DUTIES
? Monthly debtors reporting on trade receivables including the operational report, bad debts analysis, days sales outstanding (DSO) and debtors days, key departmental risks and issues, strategies and actions to mitigate risks, executive management meeting reports and overdue account alerts (hit list) to sales team.
? Conduct monthly book reviews to reduce credit exposure, risk, bad debts provisions, day’s sales outstanding and ensure early detection of customer cash flow problems.
? On a daily basis, ensure all receipts have been taken from the bank and allocated in the respective debtor’s accounts.
? Monitor overdue payments and ensure that all action has been taken to collect outstanding amounts.
? Set up processes and controls to ensure customer requests and queries are resolved
? Authorize all journal entries pertaining to debtors.
? Propose suspension and restriction of accounts when accounts become overdue or problematic.
? Review new credit applications and credit bureau reports to assess credit risk and provide first phase approval of credit facilities within the company’s levels of authority.
? Evaluate re-assessment of existing rental facility or credit limit adjustments based on customer requests.
? Ensure that full credit management function meets the customer relationship requirements of the company whilst not losing sight of the importance of collections
? Ensure compliance with NCA and CPA and other statutory requirements
? Manage and motivate a team of credit controllers, closely monitoring performance against key KPI’s and standards to ensure a performance driven culture within the debtors department.
? Provide for ongoing training of the credit staff to improve their skills levels and offer the best possible customer service. Provide staff with on the job support and coaching to raise competence levels.
? Keep abreast of industry and credit alerts and attend monthly industry meetings to establish current trading patterns of risky customers
? Ensure that systems are an enabler to staff to improve collections and customer satisfaction

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
? Credit Management 3 minimum
? 3 to 4 years of experience in a credit management position
? Managed a team of more than 10 Credit controllers
