Translator x2 – 12 Month Contract
(1x English to Portuguese & 1x English to French)
Cape Town – Northern Suburbs

Our client, a leading retailer, requires the service of a Translator

Key performance areas:

? Analyse brief for translation services and provide solution
? Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used
? Research legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation
? Read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained
? Provide direction and strategic guidance on design translations practice
? Liaise with Instructional Designers to discuss any unclear points
? Quality Assure Translated texts received from external Translators
? Accompany Presenter to Camera Shoots and provide recommendations regarding the use of Portuguese / French
? Checking translations of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation revisions
? Proofread and edit final translated versions
? Establish and maintain ‘translation as a service’ processes
? Ensure that all Translation standards and templates are maintained
? Perform the relevant filing activities
? Manage all External Translations Projects

The successful candidate must have:

? Must have Matric
? Experience in Adult learning theory would be advantageous
? Localisation of Portuguese / French in other African countries
? Experience in learning design or delivery would be advantageous
? Experience performing translation services in a training environment would be advantageous
? Good writing and reporting skills
? Excellent planning and organizational skills
