Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job:
To ensure the truck fleet is maintained and repaired optimally.

Job Description:

• Ensure maintenance of truck fleet, timeous repairs of fleet and attend to breakdowns
• Ensure all recoverable repairs are noted on the sheet and signed off by authorised client
• All abuse sheets must note the part numbers and labour hours required for repair
• Manual job cards must be completed in full and all details noted, the start time and end time to be noted and current hours. The manual job cards must be signed off by the client
• When a technician arrives on a client site, must check in with client to ensure client is aware the company has attended to the repair/call out. Also to check with client once completed and to have job car signed off
• All planned work to ensure a job card is opened first from the service advisor before any parts are issued, the parts must be issued to the job card first
• Ensure services are conducted in accordance with the service sheet and equipment is clean and in a good condition
• To ensure proper stock is controlled and booked to a job once used
• Ensure trucks are repaired correctly with no comebacks
• Ensure parts ordered are required as per job card, follow up on parts required
• Ensure all manual job cards are returned to the service advisor on completion of the repair
• Time sheets must be completed daily and issued to the workshop manager
• Ensure vehicles are clean and in good condition, services up to date and road worthy at all times
• Maintain good housekeeping
• Maintain good timekeeping
• Be prepared to work standby duty
• Communicate with workshop manager on a daily basis

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (N3 and Trade Test Certificate)
• 3 years’ hands on experience with Volvo ,Merc, Toyota , Isuzu and Nissan Trucks
• Experience on 2.5T forklifts will be an advantage
• Auto electrical experience will be an advantage
• Auto electrical work
• Code EC driver’s license with PDP
• Computer literate

Duties & Responsibilities

• Service and maintenance of the vehicle fleet consisting of trucks, trailers, forklifts, mobile equipment etc.
• Roadside assistance (breakdowns)
• Minor auto electrical work
• Complete job cards timeously
• Accident & incident investigations
• Perform standby duties
