What will you be responsible for:

• The position is aimed at a dynamic, focused individual who is able to provide an effective and efficient service to our sales channels and financial advisers by receiving, evaluating and responding to telephonic/electronic enquiries timeously

What work will you have to deliver on:

• Making accurate underwriting decisions for new applicants and additional dependents applying to the Client by applying:

  • The Medical Schemes Act (legislation)

  • The Client Health underwriting policy

  • Standards, protocols and guidelines set

• Liaising with brokers, applicants, members and doctors where applicable with regards to underwriting decision made either telephonically or in writing.

• Provide clinical input to the underwriting team on medical information disclosed where condition specific waiting period/s may apply for underwriting decision to be made.

• Effectively resolve any queries received

• Educating relevant role players (internal and external) on underwriting as a risk tool.

• Maintain a broad product, legislation and standards/protocols knowledge in order to effectively and accurately perform the role of underwriter

• Adhere to organizational best practice and legislative requirements.

• Identify trends and training gaps

• Identify risks to the company and escalate accordingly

• Maintain a consistent service delivery to ensure client retention and satisfaction.

• Engage in appropriate training interventions to promote own professional development.

• Drive and support effective teamwork within the department.

• Demonstrate the company's values on a daily basis.

Minimum requirements which needs to be displayed in your CV:

• 1-2 years underwriting experience

• Health underwriting experience an advantage

• Minimum qualification - Gr 12 (Matric)

• Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse (SANC Registration) is a minimum requirement
