The Underwriting Consultant: Personal Lines is responsible for reviewing individual applications for insurance to evaluate the degree of risk involved and to determine whether to accept the application.

Job Specifications:

• Quoting - Support brokers on quoting on the platform for new clients, as well as on existing clients
• Quality of new business' underwriting done correctly
• Attentiveness on potential upselling on products to brokers
• Analyse clients' risk profile, before discount is allocated
• Support brokers on retaining clients on the platform
• Full cover quality checks on all current cover of a client as well as updating relevant information on systems accurately
• Availably to support clients and brokers over the phone
• Maintaining average workload standard daily
• Operate within the SLA agreement on underwriting and new business
• Timeously uploading of documents on system and feedback to clients
• Confirm FAIS Compliance of Documentation Received
• Cross Selling, Retention and “Rebrokes”
• Following up on leads and referrals
• Professional communication with clients and service providers

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 60 credits of which at least 30 credits should be Commercial (Full NQF Level 4: Short-Term)
• Regulatory Exam (RE 5) successfully completed
• A minimum of five (3) years’ working experience within the financial services industry
• A minimum of one year (1) years’ (short-term) insurance underwriting experience
