Our client, a leading International Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Unit Manager: Finance at their corporate office near Westonaria.

Summary:
The role is responsible for achievement against Sibanye-Stillwater’s objectives for the financial reporting and technical accounting function. The role is also responsible for performing and/or managing the Sibanye-Stillwater Group-wide financial reporting and technical accounting function.

The appointee should:

Be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) in South Africa
Have a minimum of five years appropriate experience at a company or have had audit clients in the gold or PGM mining financial environment
Have a minimum of five years previous experience with a JSE and NYSE listed organisation
Have extensive Sarbanes-Oxley control environment exposure
Possess knowledge of JSE Listings Requirements
Have a sound knowledge of Company and Commercial law
Possess detailed knowledge and understanding of financial standards, policy and practise, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Be competent in consolidation techniques
Be competent in specialised technical accounting skills and mining taxation
In-depth understanding of internal and external, interim and annual reporting requirements and processes
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Be proficient in using the Microsoft Office package
Demonstrate integrity and above-average interpersonal abilities
Demonstrate interpersonal/cultural flexibility and embrace diversity
Be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting all deadlines
Be assertive, goal oriented and able to work with minimum supervision, with good organisational skill and the ability to pay attention to detail
Display sound analytical decision-making skills
Be prepared to work extended hours on an ad-hoc basis
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Key responsibilities include:

Achievement against Sibanye-Stillwater’s objectives for the financial reporting and technical accounting function
Perform and/or manage the Sibanye-Stillwater Group-wide financial reporting and technical accounting function, comprising:
External and financial reporting
Technical accounting papers
Group accounting policies and procedures manual
Operational and tax accounting
Compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements and subsequent reporting
Financial control and governance in line with Group standards and local statutory requirements
Deliver an effective and efficient finance function, through sharing of best practice, alignment with Group priorities and engagement with customers
Develop and manage relationships with internal and external key stakeholders on matters related to functional responsibilities
Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley control environment in respect of financial reporting and technical accounting function
Responsible for the further enhancement to current systems to ensure continuous improvement in processes and workflows
