Job Description:
The Radiation Therapy Unit Manager will be responsible for ensuring improved quality care by ensuring compliance to professional and ethical practice in the unit.

The incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that care and service delivery is implemented and practised within a multi-disciplinary quality assurance team. In accordance the incumbent will be responsible to ensure capacity building, mentoring and training.

Responsibilities:
Provide direction and oversight of the department by modelling effective, efficient operations, including supervising the scheduling and assignment of work, assisting with resolving processing problems, and collecting data to monitor progress.
Assists the Physicist and Radiation Oncologists in monitoring and ensuring that prescribed treatments are performed in compliance with established safety standards.
Utilise resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the goals and objectives within established budgets by recommending budget expenditure.
Implement individual performance expectations; coach, develop and provide input to performance evaluations to enable employees to be successful in contributing to the achievement of individual and employee retention.
Audit standard operating procedures to ensure compliance.
Review and analyse reports to formulate measures to correct for nay short comings.
Evaluate the patient’s journey through patient experience and stakeholder input.
Ensure quality assurance and radiation incident policies are adhered to according to DOH regulations.
Ensure equipment are maintained and serviced according to supplier specifications.
Participate in ensuring the key performance indicators are met.
Be part of the value chain in providing cancer services.
Evaluate Information to determine compliance with standards — using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
Implement and monitor departmental goals and objectives that align with the strategic direction of the organization.
Conduct budgeting and assume financial accountability to ensure targets are met.
Demonstrate experience with change management, policy documentation and the development of an innovative culture.
Participate in clinical research through Our clients ethic committee.
Be involved in Radiation Therapy research and quality improvement through presentations, publications or in-services.
Ensure that continuous education is in line with the HPCSA’s requirements.
Gain knowledge in current research publications in oncological treatments.
Keep up to date with the latest treatment protocols and advances in technology.
Work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.
Create and maintain a positive environment where differences of others are recognized, understood and valued, so that all can reach their full potential and maximize their contributions.
Ensure achievement of transformation goals as set out by the Transformation Committee.

Job Requirements:
Registration with the HPCSA as a Therapy Radiographer.
A relevant higher diploma or degree in Therapeutic Radiography at NQF level 7.
Further qualification in business management or related NQF7 qualification is preferred.
Clinical radiation therapy and management experience in the private sector
