•? ? ? ? ?User administration
•? ? ? ? ?Printer Administration
•? ? ? ? ?Server Network setup & configuration (IP Multipathing, etherchannel, network teaming/bonding)
•? ? ? ? ?Disk Mirroring and Logical Volume Management with HP LVM, Sun Zpools, Sun Volume Manager (Solstice Disksuite), Veritas Volume Manager
•? ? ? ? ?Filesystem Management ( UFS, ZFS, VxFS, JFS )
•? ? ? ? ?Configure & use multipathing softwares (Native MPIO, EMC PowerPath, Sun STMS)
•? ? ? ? ?OS Performance optimization & tuning of system kernel parameters
•? ? ? ? ?Assist Architecture team with Capacity Planning and forecasting
•? ? ? ? ?Install & configure Host Bus Adapters, storage LUNs, external tape drives, media changers
•? ? ? ? ?Plan and execute UNIX OS Security, ensure User Audit trail & perform lock downs, comply with Corporate Security policies
•? ? ? ? ?Troubleshoot User & Network related issues
•? ? ? ? ?Server Monitoring & Reporting (using Big Brother and Appman)
•? ? ? ? ?Basic Unix shell scripting using awk, sed, perl
•? ? ? ? ?Install, configure and maintain HA environment using HP ServiceGuard, Sun Cluster
•? ? ? ? ?Technology Refresh (OS Upgrades, Migrations etc.)
•? ? ? ? ?Generate server performance reports, availability reports
•? ? ? ? ?Work with third party vendors to perform hardware upgrades
•? ? ? ? ?
Backup & Recovery:

•? ? ? ? ?Plan & Design the backup architecture
•? ? ? ? ?Schedule & perform enterprise backups and recovery using HP Data Protector
•? ? ? ? ?Perform backups using native methods like tar, cpio, dd
•? ? ? ? ?Interface OS with external devices like Storage FC, HBAs, SAN Director switches, tape devices, Robot/Media Changers
•? ? ? ? ?Liaise with DBAs/Application owners to configure backups for databases & applications
•? ? ? ? ?Configure backup policies as per company requirements
•? ? ? ? ?Configure tape retention as per company/application requirements
•? ? ? ? ?Rotate tape media to ensure maximum usability
•? ? ? ? ?Offsite tape storage for BCP/DR
•? ? ? ? ?Configure Virtual Tape Library to enable Disk based backups
•? ? ? ? ?Perform periodic maintenance of backup hardware to ensure smooth backups
•? ? ? ? ?Generate daily backup reports & media consumption reports
•? ? ? ? ?Assist Architecture team with Capacity planning & forecast tape consumption

Storage & SAN:

•? ? ? ? ?Design the SAN topology & architecture
•? ? ? ? ?Configure RAID levels (striping/mirroring) in the storage array.
•? ? ? ? ?Decide the disk type as per requirements (FC, SATA, SAS, Solid-state)
•? ? ? ? ?Interface OS with external devices like Storage FC ports, HBAs, SAN Fabric switches (Director Class)
•? ? ? ? ?Create fabric zones & assign HBAs to Storage FC adapters
