About the role

Seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to champion the user experience design of solutions. The candidate would need to ensure that software platforms follow sound principles, are elegant and a delight to use. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to define the user experience and then design and implement web-based user interfaces, adhering to industry guidelines, standards, and best practices. The candidate will also assist internal teams with various graphic design requirements.

The ideal candidate is someone who:
• is passionate about software, the internet and the significance of the user interface
• is obsessive about pixel perfect designs and valid, semantic markups
• takes note of, examines and questions the significance of interface changes on sites like Facebook, Google or Gmail
• understands the arguments for the clichés “form follows function” and “less is more”
• is interested in words and how best to communicate a clear message
• is able to convey complex ideas with simple sketches

Description and responsibilities

1. User Experience (UX) Design
• Help to define a clear consistent user experience/interface for new and existing products and features
• Plan and design user-centric web application interfaces using paper prototyping and software wire framing tools
• Produce high-quality interface design mockups using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Work with decision makers and implementation teams to meet business priorities as well as the needs of end users
• Proactively offer suggestions and solutions to business problems in the context of User Experience (UX) design
• Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications
• Create maintainable and well-documented web UI deliverables in accordance with web standards
• Make use of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, including toolkits such as JQuery, Bootstrap, Material, Vue, etc.

2. Graphic design
• Create design solutions, from concept to completion across a variety of areas within the business, deliverables including advertising, newsletters, brochures, emails as well as social media
• Play a key role in all brand projects by creating concepts, layouts and final art
• Present visual solutions to internal clients and help communicate strategies underlying design ideas and executions
• Manage workflow efficiently and take responsibility for timing and delivery of all visual assets
• Identify, maintain and communicate company brand guidelines and best practices

Candidate requirements
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant field
• At least three years’ experience in User Experience (UX) design
• Extensive prototyping skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present rationale for design decisions
• Strong collaboration skills
• Demonstrate experience with end-to-end product design
• Have cross-platform design experiences (Web, Android, emails)
• Experience working directly with developers and multiple management levels for implementation of designs
• A good working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Libraries
• Understanding of responsive design principles and device specific best practices
• Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign and other Graphic Design platforms, specifically with web design and multimedia presentation

Advantageous
• Programming experience and creation of interactive prototypes
• Some experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET framework (MVC preferable)
• Some experience using razor, or other scripting languages
• Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related technical field
