Position: Utilities Engineer
Based in: Durban
Key Purpose:
To ensure optimum utilisation of plant, raw materials and people, to produce quality product at minimum cost which meets customer requirements while complying with legislation and sustain plant integrity over time. The role is also focused on SD initiatives specifically in Utilities.
Minimum Requirements
-Completed BSc/Btech Engineering in Mechanical or Electrical
-Minimum of 3 years relevant engineering experience
-Experience with Boilers and Refrigeration is an advantage
-Knowledge of Sustainable Development Metrics
-GCC will be an advantage
-Ability to manage and motivate people, contractors, consultants and project members
-Good written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with all levels within and outside the organisation
-High level of computer literacy and proficiency in the use of MS Office and PM software
-Good conflict handling skills
-Customer focus
-Ability to work under pressure and to meet project deadlines
-A good self-manager, able to work independently without direct supervision
-High energy levels and drive
-Sound business ethical knowledge and approach
-Knowledge of relevant legislation

Output and Accountabilities:
-Optimise Utilities plant & equipment availability ensuring 100% service delivery
-Manage Sustainable Development targets for Water and Energy reduction
-Manage Utilities usage reporting systems
-Manage SAP system integrity and optimal usage
-Maintain safe, healthy and risk free working environment
-Manage human resources within the Utilities Department
-Optimise process performance
-Analyses plant performance data to identify opportunities for improvement to plant performance, and initiates opportunity evaluation
-Takes part in evaluating continuous improvement opportunities identified by the production teams or engineering support
-Verifies that the maintenance systems are working properly and that data integrity and information accuracy is maintained
