Our client seeks a self-motivated, dynamic and innovative person with a track-record of achievement, for their group focussing on projects in Robotics, Vision Systems and Intelligent manufacturing systems. Outputs and impact are achieved through innovative products delivered to the market place.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:
A Master’s or doctorate in mechatronics, electronics, computer science or computer engineering.
Five years’ experience working in the field of image processing, computer vision or machine learning.
Proficient in C++ and two other programming languages.
Experience in applying the OpenCV library.
Experience in programming for Windows- and Linux-based operating systems.
Good understanding of machine learning.
Focus and interest in control systems, robotics, mechatronics, programming, and systems integration.
Five to ten years’ experience and competence in research field and applied research environment.
Candidate must have experience is supervising junior staff members.
A team player.
Practical person with a good track record in development of systems or products.
Good analytical approach.
Good presentation skills.
Good general computer literacy.
Good Solid Works or CAD skills.
Research and report-writing skills.
Skills and experience in project management.
Ability to provide thought leadership and mentoring.
High level conceptualisation and analytical skills.
Problem-solving and solution-seeking orientation.
Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills.
A goal-oriented approach.
Ability to work independently as well as in teams.

Key responsibilities:
Raise personal, team and institutional profiles through publishing original research and presenting work at national and international conferences and workshops.
Interact with peers within fields of expertise both within and outside the CSIR.
Interact with clients (internal and external) and develop long-term relationships.
Involved in the effective communication and motivation in team.
Work in a multidisciplinary environment with clients, engineers, scientist, project managers and technicians.
Execute projects and deliver results on brief, budget and time.
