Location: Century City, Cape Town
Salary: R1.3m per annum

Requirements:
10+ years of Software Engineering experience with progressively increasing responsibilities with at least 5 years in a leading capacity.
You are comfortable playing a hands-on role in implementing solutions.
You enjoy mentoring developers through pairing and white boarding sessions.
You are experienced with test-driven development and modern Agile practices
You have demonstrated capability in working with cross-functional teams and promote a collaborative, results-focused environment with immediate team members and internal partners.
You can develop a comprehensive platform performance and scalability strategy while continuously delivering product improvements.
You can influence key stakeholders, product leadership, etc.
The role reports to the Director, Technology

Duties:
Leading the entire engineering (Mobile & Web, Architecture, Software Testing, Data Engineering and Dev. Ops) teams, providing oversight, mentoring, coaching and growing our software development team.
Responsible for cultivating an incredible engineering culture while guiding technical decision making and infrastructure and feature delivery.
Help bootstrap the implementation of tactical and strategic initiatives including the implementation of continuous integration, refinement of automated testing and the creation of a deployment pipeline with the goal of supporting multiple deployments a day.
Provide design and architecture leadership, mentor the team, and institute best practices.
Develop and mentor upcoming leaders and key engineers.
Assess project requirements, resources, milestones and specific deliverables to manage the development process.
Communicate with other management, product managers and technical support specialists on development issues.
Focus on the implementation of metrics to enable informed decision-making.
