Warehouse Assistant Intern (OPEN TO ALL RACES AND GENDER)

1 year internship

Area: Pretoria North

Package: Salary R7, 000 p/m Primary Care 50/50% (mandatory)

Purpose of the position: The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for general warehousing functions, loading, off-loading of containers, stacking and stock counting, housekeeping, picking & packing, receiving & dispatching of goods, as well as clerical support to the Operations Department.

Duties:
Include the following; other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
• Operation of the forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack and count merchandise & the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and may be also required to perform other adhoc duties
• To carry out general warehouse duties as directed by the Warehouse Manager or duly appointed employees.
• To ensure specifications, quantity and quality of all inbound and outbound
• Verifying stock and identifying losses; and maintaining an organized layout and safe work environment.
• Assisting with stock counts (cycle, quarterly, annual, adhoc)
• To carry out general warehouse duties as directed by the Warehouse Manager or duly appointed employee.
• Assist with handling of all inbound and outbound goods
• To achieve customer service objectives, sales volumes and value objectives
• To ensure accurate picking & packaging of outbound orders and receipt & packing & stacking of incoming merchandise.
• Coordinates activities and cooperates with other department employees, to best serve the organization
• Ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct;
• Verifying stock and identifying losses; and maintaining an organized layout and safe work environment.
• Assist with Receiving (to do complete receiving if Clerk is not available)
• General housekeeping in Operations department and yard
• Assist driver on deliveries
• Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and corrects them
• Assembly of electrical plugs and minor items to complete finished goods
• Final inspection of finished goods before loading
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Experience & Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Qualifications
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid drivers’ license
• Valid Forklift License and experience driving

Requirements
• Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing +/- 40kg
• Working knowledge in MS Word, Excel or similar computer software systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English
• Basic technical skills
• Detail-oriented
• Trustworthy
• Availability to work outside working hours (i.e.: Overtime, weekends, public holidays)
• Own reliable transport
• Residing close to office in Rosslyn
• Availability after hours, on ad-hoc bases
