Duties/ responsibilities

• Responsible for FULL NATIONAL warehouse function (main warehouse in JHB with branches in Durban, East London, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth)
• Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
• Manage daily activities of warehouse to ensure safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of stock, by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programme, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
• Liaise with procurement, customers, suppliers and transport companies
• Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
• keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate by conducting physical counts; reconciling with financial system.
• help in the planning of future capacity requirements
• Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; analysing variances; initiating corrective actions
• produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as required by the finance team
• Ensure all admin work is completed correctly and timeously so the business is provided with information as and when required.
• Supervise and ensure that the correct procedures are followed in the following areas:
• Receiving,
• Dispatch,
• Picking/Packing of stock,
• Stockholding,
• Admin
• Organise the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress: coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
• Design and change warehouse layouts in order to improve efficiency and inventory accuracy
• Initiate and maintain proper and necessary safety and fire prevention equipment within warehouse – compliance with health and safety legislation
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to management immediately
