Our client, a leading Gold Mining Group, is looking for an experienced and qualified Winder Technician Underground for their facility near Westonaria to the West of Johannesburg.

JOB GRADING: C - Upper

The appointee should:

Have at least N6 or equivalent with electrical background
Have 3 years’ experience in AC / DC motor control
Have 3 years’ experience on winders
Have a knowledge of Siemens, Rockwell and Actom control equipment
Have a knowledge of SCADA systems (RS View, Citect)
Have an extensive knowledge of below mentioned equipment
Slack and tight rope systems (JT, Control Solutions, Ecam)
Escort system (Electrical and hydraulic)
Magnetic Amplifiers, Amplidynes, VFDs, Analogue Circuitry
Shaft and Winder Safety Resolution
Thyristor converter and Ward Leonard drive systems
Have indisputable integrity and be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and if necessary, pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test

Beneficial:

Knowledge and experience with regards to cyclo-converter drives.

Key responsibilities will include:

Ensuring health and safety
Developing and maintaining software based on the logic requirements
Operating without the support of external contractors
Producing reports to assist Senior Management in decision making
Making recommendations on equipment and systems improvements, which could contribute to improved systems performance.
