Grade 12 + Certificate of Competency = WINDING ENGINE DRIVER = Full scope + 2 years WINDING ENGINE DRIVER exp in Mining environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The incumbent will be responsible for the operation of all allocated winding engines.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Physically operate the winding engine to hoist and lower men, materials and ore in the shaft in compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Be conversant with the Mine Health and Safety Act and any applicable Company or management instructions
• Reset automatic hoist when trip-outs occur so as to ensure a minimum delay in hoisting time
• Record conditions of winding engine daily and complete driver’s log book as required
• List stoppages and call-outs and reasons daily
• Perform other tasks as allocated by the supervisor

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4
• Valid Certificate of Competency-Winding Engine Driver-full scope
• Candidate must have operated a Winding Engine Driver within the last two years

Other Skills/Competencies:
• Supervisory skills
• Judgement and decision making skills
• Legal/ operational compliance knowledge-in particular Chapter 16 of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Technical problem solving skills
• Other competencies/ skills in the Mining discipline other than driving a winding engine, would be an added advantage
