Wine Testing Laboratory Team Leader (W599)
* BSc Hons degree in Analytical Chemistry with at least five years’ wine industry experience. WineScan, FIA, Alkalyser and SAVIS testing experience essential. *
Location: Paarl
Description: A testing laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Team Leader to lead their wine department team. Duties will include but are not limited to: overseeing laboratory activities; trouble shooting and problem solving; developing and validation of new methods; ensuring that the instrument calibration schedule is adhered to and that all instruments are calibrated; ensuring that the required routine maintenance is performed at the required time intervals and is recorded appropriately; liaising directly with clients; quality testing according to Wine Industry standards; SAVIS testing for the import and export of samples; work-flow planning, task allocation to the laboratory team and ensuring adherence to all aspects of Quality Systems; training and development of the laboratory team members. This individual will also be required to become a SANAS Technical Signatory for the laboratory and will have previous knowledge of ISO17025.
Key Requirements: BSc Hons degree in Analytical Chemistry with at least five years’ hands-on experience in wine industry related wet chemistry techniques. Experience in using WineScan, FIA, Alkalyser instrumentation and SAVIS testing essential. Method development experience and knowledge of ISO17025 will be beneficial. Computer literate.
Additional Requirements: The ability to work in a team; attention to detail; dynamic, hardworking and dedicated; adheres to deadlines; independent with strong leadership skills and fully bilingual. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to motivate team members and liaise with customers.
Remuneration: Market related, depending on experience.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
