Purpose of the position
This will be a fully-fledged WordPress (HTML/CSS/JS/PHP) Developer whose skills are up to date with the latest trends in web front-end developments. This leaves the Organization with limited focus on enhancing front-end applications. The primary function of this role will be to focus on the web presentation layer and identify innovative ways we can use new technology trends to enhance our current framework.
Key Responsibilities & duties
• Architect, Design and build functionality on Company’s various web portals – especially the customer facing web sites in all Company Operating companies
• Day to day maintenance, administration and support of Company’s WordPress based web sites.
• Support marketing and commercial teams on content changes and ongoing improvements to Company’s web sites
• Working closely with external parties such as web development agencies and digital design companies to ensure the delivery of world class web sites in all of Company’s operations.
• Building and implementing WordPress plugins for custom functionality required by Company
• This role assumes a solid knowledge of WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS, Apache, MySQL and JavaScript. Basic Linux knowledge is essential.
• Ensure compliance with Web standards and accessibility requirements.
• Test front-end applications for cross-browser and multi-device capability.
• Design applications for usability and download speeds.
• The role will primarily be requested to focus on application front-end development tasks and innovation around that area. To perform this function, the incumbent is expected to work closely with Senior Management / the marketing and product teams so to gather IT requirements around the Company customer journey.

Academic qualifications
Essential Degree/Diploma in Information Systems or Computer Science
Desirable BSC Computer Science or Equivalent

Work experience & skills
Extensive knowledge of web standards and application usability required.
Exceptional Experience in Developing Application front-end (mainly web-based front-ends) – Developing web applications using technologies such as PHP, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Java Script, and JQuery or similar.
Solid background and innovation accomplished in developing application front-ends.
Solid knowledge and experience in the building of WordPress based web sites including creation of templates and plugins.
Some Knowledge of scripting languages, eg. BASH, perl, python, etc
Database knowledge – Solid knowledge of SQL scripting on Databases’ like MySQL
Preferably have skills in Java/J2EE web development in addition to just PHP
